Configuring a task type
Prerequisites
- Access to the Configuration > Task type (TC028) menu.
Introduction
A task type needs to be added and configured in order for a nonproject task to be planned.
Types categorize tasks and configure some of their resources, such as planning approval or execution approval, and timesheets.
See how to add and configure task types below:
Configuring a type
1. Access the Configuration > Task type (TC028) menu.
2. Click on the button to add a type.
3. On the screen that will open, enter an ID # and a name.
4. In the General tab, select the type that is hierarchically above this one in the Upper level type field.
5. Check the other options available in the General tab, as you wish. The options are:
- Make the filling of the result fields when closing mandatory: check this option for the system to require the completion of the fields in the Result section before closing the execution of the tasks.
- Allow associating a specific user for execution: check this option so that it is possible to associate specific users for the execution of the tasks. Once a user is associated with a task, the other team members will not be able to execute it.
- Filling out to explain reason for delay is obligatory: check this option so that the user is required to fill in the Reason for delay field in the Result section of the task data screen once a task is closed with delay.
-
Workflow: section for configuring the options related to the Workflow component.
- Require the association of at least one instance for the task to be closed: check this option so that workflow association is required.
- Do not allow the task to be closed until all instances associated with it are closed: check this option so that the closure of the task is blocked if said task has a workflow in progress.
- Automatically execute the task when closing the associated workflow instances: check this option so that the task is closed automatically once the workflows are finished.
-
Restrict the association of instances with processes: use the
button to configure the specific processes whose instances will be restricted.
6. In the Attribute tab, associate the desired attributes. Access the Associating an attribute article to learn more.
7. In the Enter time tab, it is possible to define whether the resources will be able to enter the time spent on the tasks. See the options available in this tab:
- Allow timesheet: check it to allow time to be entered.
- Mandatory to fill out the [Description] field: check this option so that the system requires the completion of the Description field when time is entered.
-
Inhibit time entry: section for defining when timesheets will be blocked.
- If task is closed: check this option to block timesheets once the task ends.
- After exceeding ___ percent of allocated hours: check this option and fill in the blank space to block timesheets once a certain percentage of hours allocated for the resources is reached.
- Before: check this option to set the date on which task timesheets will be blocked in advance.
- Approval step?: check this option so that the timesheet goes through approval. Then, fill in the other approval fields. To do so, access the How does approval work? article and learn more.
In the Attribute tab, it is possible to associate attributes with a timesheet.
8. In the Optional tab, it is possible to parameterize options for the resource records created in the system. See the available options:
Customer/supplier |
Required: check this option so that the association of customers or suppliers becomes mandatory. Restrict changes to planning or revision situations: check this option so that the association of customers or suppliers is possible only during task planning. |
Mask |
Use identification mask: check this option to use the automatic identification feature. In the Identification mask field, select an existing mask. Enable ID # change: check this option to allow the system-generated ID # to be edited. |
Checklist |
Planning checklist: select a checklist for assistance with the planning. Execution checklist: select a checklist for assistance with the execution. |
Calendar | In the Calendar field, insert a default calendar for all tasks of the type. |
9. In the Form tab, associate or add existing forms, if you wish.
10. Finally, click on the button to save the data.

Conclusion
Once a type is added and configured, a nonproject task must be planned.
